Deputies C. L. Tate and Taylor Green destroy three thousand gallons of beer and ten gallons of whiskey at two Curtis Creek locations on January 8 and 17. A February 5 seizure on Garrett's Creek removes four barrels of beer. A February 11 incident on Mill Creek yields ten barrels of beer, and Charley Gurley is arrested for possession of five pints of whiskey. Dorcas Bible Class plans March meetings with study of a Bible chapter with Mrs Lennie Kanipe.

John A. Lowery of Old Fort donated the original 1784 land grant to the Daughters of the American Revolution for their Washington DC museum. The Winston-Salem article describes the grant showing Isabel Lowery's ownership of 300 acres near the Haw River, issued by Alexander Martin in 1784.

Funeral of J. A. Trexler Held in Salisbury
Funeral services for J. A. Trexler of Salisbury were held with I. L. Caplan and sons Ike and Marley in attendance. Trexler, an uncle of Caplan, died February 10 in West Palm Beach Florida. He left a widow and eight children. Interment followed at Chestnut Hill cemetery. The report also notes a sewing club gathering hosted by Mrs A V Nolan in Marion with several attendees, and a Sunday visit by Frank Allen of Asheville to Old Fort relatives.

Old Fort Chapter Eastern Star Holds Special Meeting
The Old Fort Chapter of the Eastern Star met in the Masonic Hall on Monday at 7 30 pm with 23 members and seven visitors. District Deputy Grand Matron Edna Gage Morrow made her official visit. guests came from Asheville Swannanoa Biltmore Black Mountain and Marion chapters. Attendees called it one of the best meetings, and refreshments were served.
