Convicts Escape Georgia Prison Guard Shot During Break
Six long term inmates at the state prison farm near Milledgeville shot a guard and overpowered four others. They stole weapons and a pickup, later drove a maroon sedan toward Atlanta. Five fugitives fled in a truck. one remained nearby. Authorities launched a statewide manhunt with road blocks and broadcast warnings.
