Hilonian Sunk by Submarine Off Italian Coast
The American steamship Hilonian was torpedoed and sunk off Genoa Italy. Four crew members died and Captain TH Williams was saved. The vessel of 2921 tons gross carried a crew of 39 including 18 American citizens. The cargo, chiefly provisions, valued at about 2.5 million dollars, plus the ship at 1 million, belonged to Universal Transportation Company.
