Anchorage report on Lieut. Kelsey O Wynns of Oklahoma City, 64th fighter squadron, who survived a training flight after a goose shattered the cockpit. The jet sustained a 10 inch wing hole and gun camera damage while ten pounds of meat and feathers were found in a duct chamber. Ducks and geese linger around Anchorage as icy nesting spots push fowl southward. Wynns, groggy but victorious, landed the plane and survived with minor injuries to his pride and vision.

Quake Shakes Los Angeles and Suburbs in Early Morning
A 2 19 a m tremor lasting about 15 seconds was felt strongly in the San Gabriel and San Fernando valleys including Altadena Pasadena Burbank and Glendale with no damage reported by sheriff or police. State Prison Fugitive Captured in Six Hours
Sam Marrs walked away from the state prison back yard at 4 p.m. Thursday and was recaptured six hours later. Guards found him hiding in a small building just outside the brick yard. He was unarmed and offered no resistance.

Moravia Contractor Dies in Clinton Area Crash
A Moravia Iowa contractor Frederick W Blumenstock age 76 was killed in a head on collision two miles east of Clinton on U S 66 at 7 am Friday. His wife Mamie 65 was seriously injured. Highway patrolman Forrest Mussen said Blumenstock driving east tried to pass another car and hit a truck driven by Benjamin F Russell 51 of Saugus California. Mussen noted 142 hours to separate the wreck. Russell was uninjured. Blumenstock died at Clinton hospital. Mrs Blumenstock suffered multiple fractures and injuries. The death brings Iowa highway toll to 20 for the period.
