Three small children Shirley Ann 11 Violet 8 Gary Burch 3 and a dog died in a fire that destroyed a two family apartment in Poplar Bluff Missouri. The children were locked in their rooms by their mother who was away visiting neighbors. A padlock blocked neighbors and the other apartment’s occupants escaped after being awakened by screams. The building had been condemned for unsafe occupancy and the mother planned to move the next day. Coroner and sheriff said investigators are ongoing.
