Pecos Texas July 4 A newly married couple under investigation in the slaying of world famed oil field explosives expert Tex Thornton. Sheriff Gaither in Amarillo said witnesses would be shown photographs of the young couple with Tex Thornton the night he was killed. The couple were arrested on a check passing complaint and fit the description of those wanted. Bus stubs and a Chrysler key linked them to travel since June 17 across Tulsa Oklahoma City and Lubbock. A murder charge was filed against an unidentified man R L Leach.
