Crowds converge at the post office to buy canned corn peas bacon and beans with flour selling low. Delays in arrival and delivery are expected while officials report 1500 orders by noon and aim to deliver by special parcel post trucks.
Terrell Texas August 18 two men accused of robbing the First State Bank vault in Millerton Oklahoma were arrested today in Idabel Oklahoma according to information received here the men were identified by fingerprints and held for further questioning authorities said.

Peterson captured by Mexican bandits near Candelaria Texas while piloting and threatened with death unless 1500 dollars are paid. The State Department warned of consequences and directed the consul at Suarer to press authorities. Major General Dickman reported the detention to the War Department but Secretary Baker withheld details. The case is treated as a breach of international law and a serious situation.

Aug 18 London The British government accepted a state purchase policy for mineral rights in coal. Premier Lloyd George announced in the house of commons that the government would pursue compulsory purchase and control of coal resources to stabilize supply and prices.
An embargo was placed on grain exports to Gulf ports by the South export committee with limited exceptions. The move aims to curb shipments via Gulf ports as coal shortages hamper loading. Much grain remains rotting due to coal shortages affecting distribution.
A boiler exploded on Norman Mayberry’s farm five miles northeast of Greenfield yesterday afternoon, killing three seven year old boys and injuring ten others. The dead are Edward Mayberry, Lawrence Sampson, and John Edward Sampsus.
