OMA Cadet Dies Of Polio At 39th State Death
Bobby Hall of Bartlesville aged 17, a Oklahoma Military Academy student, died at Hillcrest hospital in Tulsa, becoming the state s 39th polio victim of the year. Crippled Children s Hospital admitted a 12 year old Shawnee boy and a 1 year old Ardmore girl, raising total cases to 121 with 41 acute and 80 convalescent. Hillcrest reported 109 polio patients being treated Wednesday.

Fleeing convicts scuttle escape from Morelia jail
In Morelia Mexico Aug 3 fifty eight dangerous criminals slipped past police in the Santa Maria hills five miles from the state capital and fled into the Michoacan mountains after a gun battle leaving eight prisoners and one policeman dead. Two groups pursued the 58 men who survived a break from a 74 inmate breakout at 6 pm Tuesday. Police said six prisoners died in Santa Maria, two in the initial breach and eight were captured. A jailer was killed when prisoners seized eight rifles.
