In ONZALES Texas during filming near Gonzales a stampede of 25 circus elephants frightened by blank pistol fire was halted by a singing cowboy and a Hindu elephant rider. Gene Autry brother Dudley Autry and stuntmen urged the herd away, with Singh riding the baby elephant Butch to calm the animals as they circled just outside the city limits.

Oklahoma City names two new councilmen Walter M. Harrison from ward one and Warren W. Connor from ward two after Tuesday’s election. Skeleton Found On Yale Farm
County Sheriff E G Schroeder said a skeleton was found on a farm four miles southwest of Yale. Farmer Dick Ross found the skull in a creek bank near his home. Deputies reported other skeleton parts. Officials called it a routine probe, possibly dating back as long as 50 years. It is the second skeleton found in two years near Yale.

City Mail Bag Bulges Larger in March Postal Receipts
March postal receipts at the city office totaled 365 653.75 dollars, up 59 090.20 from March 1948 a 19.27 percent rise. First class outgoing mail led gains with a 19.38 percent increase, incoming 11.16 percent. Fourth class mail rose about 18 percent in both directions. Funeral for Dr. John Tidmore, 75, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ in Wilson. Burial follows at Hewitt. He died Tuesday in an Ardmore hospital after 46 years of medical practice.
