Dr Hawley TL Crippen convicted of murdering his wife Belle Elmore in five day trial presided by Lord Chief Justice Alverstone. Jury may have favored life sentence due to circumstantial evidence. Crippen sentenced to hang on November 15.
Chicago authorities seized three hundred thousand dollars in counterfeit Nicaraguan peso notes printed for a Tampico planter promoter. George D. Williams and J N Secreest are charged with printing and promoting the scheme, while Richard J. Trumbull supplied plates. federal agents captured them as they left the plant with copper plates and a seal impression, linking the operation to a 1909 note series.
