California's Contest in San Francisco Election Day
San Francisco viewers report a quiet election with about 41 000 ballots cast in the city and a probable count of 1500 more. Republicans lead the city ticket with Kalloch ahead for mayor, Davis likely re-elected to Congress, and state ticket generally ahead. Voting patterns show workers backing straight Republican lines while some precincts see skepticism toward Griswold for mayor and shifting support toward Terking and Flint. Democrats largely back the Republican city ticket and scrutinize Glenn. Noon totals reach 24 798 with expectations of a heavy afternoon vote and no interior returns yet.
