Brown killed in auto mishap near Independence
Tom Brown 68 of Independence died of injuries from a Saturday auto crash on highway 150 when a Jefferson bus struck the car he and Wilber Hayes were driving. Hayes was treated and released. Brown died at 8 53 p m in Independence. He was a Hawthorne school janitor and survived by wife Florence Hayes and several relatives. L M Bink prominent Northeast Iowa merchant died Sunday at his Elkader home after two years of ill health. A 1899 arrival, he formed Poull Bink store partnership until 1936, then founded Bink Mercantile. Funeral Thursday 10:00 at St Joseph Church with burial in St Joseph Cemetery. Survived by four sons Edward Utica Walter LeRoy and three daughters plus a sister Catherine Paull. Mrs Bink died in 1944.
