New Diesel Makes First Run Here

Army Unveils Super Bomber B 36
The U S Army Air Forces unveiled its new B 36 Super Bomber, built by Convair at Fort Worth Texas, designed to carry an atomic bomb anywhere and return without refueling. The 163 foot long, 47 foot high plane has a 280 foot wingspan, 300 mph speed, 21000 gallon fuel capacity and can carry 10000 pounds of bombs up to 10000 miles. At reduced range it can carry 72000 pounds, more than three times the B 29’s capacity.

Henry Ganske Dies in Sumner at 82
Henry Ganske 82 died Wednesday morning in a Sumner convalescent home after moving there from his daughter's near Waverly. He was born in DuPage County Illinois and moved to Sumner as an infant. He married Lena Schumaker of Denver on October 23 1864. Surviving are son William of Sumner, daughter-in-law Edna Ganske of Sacramento, four daughters Hulda and Mary Treptow of Oelwein Clara Benton of Westgate and Anna Nuss of Waverly, 25 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three brothers John of Tripoli Herman and Charles of Waverly, and sister Mrs Henry Kausemeier. His wife preceded him in death. Funeral services Saturday at 1 30 in the funeral chapel and 2 at St John’s Lutheran Church. Burial in St John’s Lutheran Cemetery north of town.
