Eight hunters from Elkader flew to Hampton to hunt pheasants on opening day. Art Me, Ed Dellman, Orville Putzier, Gerald Fassbinder, Harold Hall, Bob Steber, the Rev. Paul Kitterer, and Jang Jackson Turner flew four airplanes from Elkader airpark. They landed near Latimer west of Hampton, minimizing travel to retrieve birds.
