Commencement Speaker Named for Lamont Friday
Earl Hall of the Mason City Globe Gazette will speak at Lamont school commencement Friday evening May 14. Hall served in World War I with the Milwaukee Journal and became managing editor of the Gazette in 1920. He was state commander of the American Legion and led the safety council from 1934 to 1939.
Hollywood Spikers Win AAU Crown
A Hollywood team led by six foot nine inch Jack Stetson won the National AAU volleyball championship in Des Moines. The Spikers dropped an early final round match to downtown Los Angeles but defeated their neighborhood rivals to claim the title, finishing six of seven games. Los Angeles and Long Beach each had three wins and two losses. Omaha and Des Moines each stood at two and two.
