Gilbert E Gibbs, 55, mayor of Dundee and longtime Delaware County resident, died May 22 at his home of an apparent heart attack. Funeral held May 24 at Shelly Funeral Home Manchester with Rev Eugene Lorenz. Burial in St Alberts Cemetery Lamont. He was born December 12 1917 in Coffin's Grove Township, worked on the family farm, married Ethel Mohr on July 4 1936, farmed 20 years, hauled milk, then moved to Dundee and worked in county road maintenance. Elected mayor 12 years ago, survived by his wife eight children 12 grandchildren mother and several siblings. Burial details and further notices provided by local papers.
The Independence Community Council will run a supervised summer playground from June 18 to August 3 for kindergarten through sixth grade, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
