The Iowa Senate approved a House unemployment compensation bill 45 to 2 and sent it back with amendments. It would extend benefits from 26 to 39 weeks and cover about 90,000 more workers and 26,000 employers. Amendments tighten qualification rules and limit benefits for quitters to times of high unemployment, with a tentative threshold near four to six percent. Weather notes predict partly cloudy, warmer conditions with possible Friday showers and upper 80s highs.
