Mrs John Lundberg and son Cecil Joe of Waterloo stayed overnight with Kenneth Thompson. multiple telephone and visit items reflect community activity.
Ray Howard visits Will King residence near Stanley while Mrs L J Davis, Mrs Donald Laury, and several others are listed as shoppers and callers in town. John Meyer spends days in Kensett and midshipman Hintz of the USS New Jersey visits Oslo with the king. A Taylorerait Ace plane was purchased and a local laundry advertises clean clothing.
Mrs Grace Schoentag and her sons visited Strawberry Point Tuesday evening. Mrs John Swales from Lamont called here yesterday. Judge Martin Cooney of Dubuque, formerly West Union, visited today. Mrs E Buckman of Aurora shopped here yesterday. Mr and Mrs Julius Frederick were guests in Waterloo Monday and Tuesday. Barbara Appleman of Clermont was here yesterday.

In district court a divorce between Leo E Ostlie and Dor is E Ostlie concluded with custody granted of their sole child. Leo E Ostlie faced intoxication charges with a fine of 10 dollars plus costs. Rob ert Steele of Lamont cited for reckless driving with 25 dollars and costs. Leonard Roepke of Aurora listed for related charges. The Jefferson Good Luck 4 H club met at Dorothy Lau’s home with eleven members, four mothers and three guests, exchanging material for the fair, purchasing relief clothing, and preparing portfolios with leaders’ help after meeting. Mrs Lau and Dorothy served lunch.
ICRI Frederick Herman Fensterman born April 27 1873 near Elkport died Friday July 25 at age 74. He lived in Stanley since 1946 and was a Methodist. Survived by wife Ida and children Reuben Garold Almond Alice Lawrence Orval nine grandchildren sister Mary and brother Henry. Funeral Monday at Wood Center church with Rev. Mastin. burial Wood Center. Farm Market reports farmers seek four million electric motors for farm electrification.
Westgate and Alpha area residents attended Fayette County Legion and Auxiliaries meetings. Many families celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and weddings while guests visited relatives in Oelwein, Westgate, and surrounding towns. Individuals traveled from Des Moines and Hammond Indiana for family gatherings.
Harlan NRG 4 H club girls discussed sending a box to the Netherlands at their July 24 meeting with Ardys Hare. The Frederick family reunion honored Mrs Suhr's sister and brother-in-law in Fairbank, with visiting relatives from Hyattsville Md. and other Iowa towns. Families and individuals across the community are noted attending events, visits, and travel.
