William Hicks was elected commander of Ross Reid Post No 9 of the American Legion at a regular meeting in the Legion hall. Melvin Rueber 20, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Rueber of Westgate, drowned Tuesday night at a pond west of Westgate on the Little Wapsie. Reportedly under water about a half hour. three youths attempted rescue but could not reach him. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM at the Westgate Lutheran Church.
