Body of Missing Man Found Near Independence Edge
The body of Dave Carey, 63, of Independence, was found Sunday morning at the northeast edge of Independence by a boy on his way to skate. He had been missing since Thursday night and died of exposure. Sheriff Emory Hart confirmed the finding. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 9 AM at St. John's church with burial in St. John's cemetery. He is survived by two brothers in Washington and Iowa and three sisters in Independence, Waterloo, and Chicago.

Funeral services are tentatively set for Wednesday for Leslie Meyers of Wadena who died Sunday in Mercy hospital Oelwein. The body is at Delsing Funeral home Mayard. He was injured in a crash near Wadena Friday afternoon. Meyers survived by his wife three children his parents and several brothers and sisters. Two other weekend deaths raise the Iowa traffic fatality toll for 1948 to 15. Harold Leaming 42 Worthington Minn was killed and a companion injured when their car struck a bus filled with students east of Waterloo. The students Waterloo high school wrestlers were returning from a conference meet at Cornell college. Richard Johnson 21 Whiting was killed when struck by a car near there after stepping to the center of the highway when the car he was riding ran out of gas.
