Des Moines Feb 4 UP The senate approved boosting old age pensions from 700,00 to 8,500,000 annually for the coming biennium with federal matching funds raising the total to 17,000,000 per year. Senator Berg said the increase follows the treasury needs and noted the social welfare department now pays 56,495 beneficiaries averaging 20.76 monthly with enrollments rising about 250 monthly. Melvin Behnke, 23, a farmhand, secured his wife Beulah Behnke through a habeas corpus action after a week of parental dispute.
