Lamont Family Killed in Crash. Fifth Member Injured
A crash near the Maryville corner on highway 3 claimed the lives of Roger Smith, 28, and Yula Smith, 26, of Lamont, along with their two young sons Larry, 3, and Willis, 11 months. Their daughter Merry Dee, 1, survived in fair condition. a fourth child was at home. Driver Arthur D. McCann, Marion, remained hospitalized in fair condition. The accident occurred about 3:30 Monday afternoon when a southbound car collided with a westbound gravel truck at the intersection, sending both vehicles into a ditch. Authorities indicated no charges would be filed. Funeral plans were pending.
