Burial rites for Mrs Jane Licht Johnson held in Waterloo
Burial services were conducted Monday at hrns chapel in Waterloo for Mrs Jane Licht Johnson. The service was led by A L Drake pastor of the 1st Baptist church. Mrs Johnson, born in Kanesville Iowa, died Friday night in the Presbyterian hospital Waterloo after residing in Waterloo 20 years. She was married to John L Johnson on November 5, 1931 in Galeris. Survived by one son George Beck of Lansing Michigan, four brothers John E Murphy of Waterloo, Thomas Murphy of British Columbia, Dick Murphy of Springfield Missouri, and Ern Murphy of Maywood Illinois. two sisters Mrs Grace Smith of Danville and Mrs Nellie Powers of Waterloo. She was a member of the Waterloo chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.

Norbert Heying, who escaped Aug 3 from the state mental hospital in Independence, was recaptured Monday afternoon near Winthrop. Sheriff Emory Hart and Deputy Verle Meggers found the escapee a mile from the Wayne Gaffney farm after the Gaffneys reported allowing Heying to stay in their home. Heying had been transferred from the state penitentiary where he was sentenced for killing his wife years ago. Another hospital inmate who escaped with him remains at large. The pair had tied up a guard before fleeing.
