An eight year old girl Anna Churan died of hydrophobia after being bitten by a terrier near her father's saloon on South Canal Street. Ex mayor W C McCarthy of Pittsburgh is critically ill from blood poisoning after a dog bite from his violent pet, which has bitten several children. The dog was killed yesterday.
A large dam at Kennebec Tea Company withers under heavy rain, releasing vast water that overflows Brandywine and floods Coatesville. The bridge is swept away and several frame houses are carried away as residents flee to higher ground. No lives reported lost.

PaRKERSBURG Sept 16 Mr W G Mann of Harrison County found a petrified snake embedded in solid sandstone about eighteen inches from the top. The carcass was not complete with tail and part of the head missing. the remaining portion measures about fifteen inches.
The dockmen formed a daytime procession in Loxpon on September 16 marching to the Mansion House where they were reviewed by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress. The event celebrated their victory and demonstrated solidarity among the workers.
A London conference between Cardinal Manning and dock company directors yielded a plan to concede the strikers’ wage demands with an effective date of November 4. John Gordon of the Lake George Paper and Pulp Company was slain when coworkers tied a rope to his feet and rigged him over a rapidly turning shaft. The rope slipped, the machine turned 125 revolutions per minute, and Gordon was horribly mutilated. One perpetrator reportedly lost his mind from the shock.
Mrs Geo H Dunsford dies after being thrown into spasms during a performance. Doctors report she swallowed her missing artificial teeth, which were found lodged in her stomach during the post mortem examination.
Madison County grand jury indicts Rev. M G P Nickens for the August 13 murder of Baptist preacher David Carmet to. Nickens, a Methodist minister, is jailed in Huntsville. Both men are white and regarded as men of good local reputation.
