Wreck Debris Burned as Johnstown Cleared After Disaster

Train wreck at Pratt Mines kills two and injures many

A Tennessee Coal and Iron Railroad train struck a cow on the track near Pratt Mines DBIrnMIn Guama Alabama. Six cars plunged down an embankment and two carpenters Walter Bearly and Henry McCauley were killed. About 100 others were injured but none are expected to die.

A Raleigh and Gaston railroad test showed Baylus Cade of Raeicu NC transmitting messages to and from moving trains. A drag device on the car maintained current while sliding over track wires. Messages were received from Raleigh and Greensboro as the train traveled at thirty miles per hour.

Prohibition Defeated in Pennsylvania Vote Totals

Pittsburgh June 19 Returns show statewide defeat of the prohibition amendment with 54,517 for and 185,193 against, a 130,676 margin and a Pittsburgh tally of 16,540 against. Allegheny City reports 3,808 against with seven districts pending and expected to push the county margin over 23,000.

Remains of Tennessee's First Governor Recovered

The remains of John Sevier, Tennessee's first governor, were exhumed near Montgomery, Alabama after a 74 year burial and reached Chattanooga at noon. They will be moved to Knoxville for reinterment.
