Maud Name and Montgomery Mules Case Heard

A dispute over possession of Montgomery mules ended with Parker awarded full ownership and Lane facing possible charges for assault and battery. Goff paid Lane 270 cash for the animals, later sold to Parker for 700, with an oral contract and no further action planned by Goff. Separate governor Hanly defends prompt action against public officers, stating successors will be chosen within thirty days if proof of misconduct is found.

Charles Edgar Spurgeon born September 20 1873 in Van Boren township died September 15 1905 in Martin county aged 30 years 1 month 26 days. He married Beulah Hall October 5 19 and they had two children Russell aged 2 and Edgar Vernon aged 1 month. Funeral services at Christian Church in Odon Sunday at three o'clock. Burial Walnut Hill. He leaves a wife two children two brothers and one sister.
