The President of the United States died in Buffalo after being shot. He entered death at about 2 15 a m Saturday. His last words expressed submission to God's will. Funeral services were held at the Milburn House. The remains were later taken by train toward Washington.

In Indianapolis on September 13, chaplain and state agent Harry L. Henderson and physician L A Spinning resigned from the Michigan City state prison at the request of Warden Shideler. Shideler's resignation to Governor Durbin followed, with no public reason given beyond betterment of the institution. Also reported a man named Ollie Mitchell, believed killed after a streetcar collision, returned home alive to astonished relatives.
Wallace Thirp, a farmer northeast of Elwood Indiana, found a valuable pearl in Wildcat creek. He sold it to a jeweler in Anderson named Wilson for four dollars, and soon after a traveling man from New York paid seventy five dollars for the gem.

Laporte Indiana September 12 Henry John 72 long time county resident died of heart trouble. He served in the Civil War as a private in the 320th Indiana Regiment.
Crawfordsville Ind Sept 14 The Crawfordsville fair closed with notable harness results. In the 2:18 trot Milton S won the purse of 300, in the free-for-all pace Milton S took first in a purse of 106, and Beetel captured the 2:35 trot with a 200 purse.

Roy Messisek died Thursday night from effects of poisoning after inhaling fumes while handling a jug of bitter almond oil. The incident occurred in Indianapolis Indiana and left him with saturated clothing from the liquid.
