Booneville Indiana September 10 Mrs Lizzie McCoy wife of a wealthy stock raiser near Mt Olive Spencer county entered her kitchen Friday morning found a five foot rattlesnake six feet long 12 rattles in battle with a large rat She seized a shovel and broom to attack the reptile the snake was slain the rat escaped in the melee
Fred Willman a wealthy farmer north of North Vernon Indiana was charged with the murder of Mahlon Wells. A preliminary hearing before Justice Rash Thursday resulted in the defendant being held to the circuit court in bonds of 10900. Willman showed no agitation as he was remanded to jail.
Evansville Indiana September 12 Patrolman Jerry Crow fatally shot Cleveland Dennison 24 during an arrest attempt. Dennison and two others attacked Crow knocking him down and stabbing him but not seriously when he fired three times. Dennison formerly lived in Owensboro Kentucky.
Mrs. C. W. Fairbanks, wife of the vice presidential candidate, dropped the “Go Devil” to shoot an oil well near Parker City Indiana. The well is now flowing about 1,000 barrels per day and considered one of the best producing wells in the area.
Howard Brooks an 18 year old bookkeeper lies semi conscious at his home in Anderson Indiana with a fractured skull. Officers are mystified by the accident as Brooks recalls striking an iron fence when he fell in a rational moment.
