Mrs Nancy Ledgerwood Dies In East Odon Home

Mrs Nancy Ledgerwood aged resident of East Odon died last Friday at home from general illness likely worsened by an indigestion attack ten days earlier. Born on a township farm east of Gdon she married James Ledgerwood in 1866 and had six children three surviving: Mrs Joseph Carr Mrs Al Toon and William. She leaves sister Mrs Jane Keck brother Willian McCarter and many grandchildren. A Baptist church member and devout Christian, her funeral was at Mt Ghisvechiure Sunday with burial at the cemetery there.

Elderly resident injured after fall on lawn

Ella Whithoe, seventy, of East Main Street, fell last Monday fracturing a bone while walking across her lawn. She was taken to the hospital in Washington and is progressing as well as expected given her age.

White Sox beat Velvets 1–0 on pitching duel

The local White Sox edged the Jasonville Velvets 1 to 0 at their diamond. Ward pitched superbly allowing two scratch hits while the locals compiled six. The game featured sharp fielding and strong defense from both sides as the suspenseful pitchers duel unfolded through the innings.

George Holt Dies A Martin County Resident

George Holt, longtime Martin County resident and Burns City area farmer, died last Sunday from a longstanding illness. Born September 17, 1852, he would have turned 70 next week. He married Elizabeth Jones on March 28, 1876. they had two children Calvin who died in infancy and Luther who survives at the family home. Burial was at the fiat cemetery. He was a Christian and a respected neighbor, survived by his wife, son, one grandchild, and many relatives. Funeral Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R. T. Gwyn in charge.

Local Nuptials and Community Notes Highlight Vincennes

Mrs. Lizzie Fisher and Louis Deaver wed last Tuesday at five in Vincennes with Rev Ernest Roberts officiating. They plan to reside in Cody Nebraska where Deaver serves as postmaster. Several townsfolk, sales notices, and travel plans are noted along with school openings and a bumper apple crop.

Men Die In Bridge Crash At Plumner Station

Two workers were killed and a third fatally injured when the second span of the Big Four railroad river bridge under construction at Plumner Station collapsed into White River. Eight others were hurt including the foreman and a worker who suffered severe injuries after jumping from the derrick. Bodies remained trapped beneath wreckage.

Church of God meeting to elect officers at Shiloh

The Church of God members will meet at Shiloh on September 28 at 2 pm to elect three trustees two elders two deacons one clerk and one treasurer. Faith is the pastor.
