Peter Trueblood son of Richard L Trueblood of Van Buren township died in northeastern Pines Pri day of apoplexy. He was about forty years old and single. The body arrived. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Eaglesville conducted by Rev. Henry Denbo of Plainville.
Peter W. Walter, a prominent and respected citizen of Madison, dies after a long illness. Local officials and friends this week mourn his passing and honor his community contributions.
W W Harper, longtime Oklahoma City real estate figure, recently purchased a large Colorado farm at 125.00 per acre totaling 46 000 00. Born in Cuscaumaras County Ohio May 4, 184? he married Sarah Siddiepeck in 1862 and had children. He moved from Ohio to Indiana then to Daviess County and finally to Oklahoma. He suffered strokes last November and remained frail, dying Monday morning at his farm north of Gado after forty years there. Funeral services were held at the Grad Shape church with burial in Good Hope cemetery.
John Garrity, a well known engineer for Southern Indiana, lies near death at his sister’s Bedford home due to heart trouble. At about forty years old, he began service on the railway in Odon two years ago and had recently retired from active duty. His friends in Odon and Bedford await the outcome of his condition.
Mrs. John McNabb, sixty four, of MacCrreron township near Burns City, died by drowning in a shallow well at her home. Despondency from poor health was the likely cause. Her husband and several grown children survive.
A large crowd of Democrats and Republicans heard W L Taylor ex attorney general of Indianapolis Monday afternoon. He spoke for an hour and a half praising tariff policies and national credit while urging support for Senator Beveridge and local Republican leaders. The event drew applause and influence from county officials and Washington insiders amid a mixed turnout from surrounding townships.
Mrs. Julia Ward Howe author of the Battle Hymn of the Republic died at her Middleton Rhode Island summer home Monday. Her three daughters Mrs. Florence Howe Hall Mrs. Laura Richards and Mrs. John Elliott were at the bedside with her son-in-law John Elliott. Death came from heart failure due to age and a severe cold.
An eighteen month old child of Mr and Mrs Dillard Boardman died at home west of Viruysdave after a brief illness. The death occurred on a Friday and was witnessed by local residents. Dr Buchanan and other local officials conducted the first examination and inquiry into the case.
Judge Houghton of Daviess County completes twelve years as judge, serving two full terms. His successor will be qualified for the next term, and before retiring he will hold another term. At term end, Martin will become the judge and then resume active law practice. The county bar honors his service.
Voters are told Albert J Beveridge was a U S senate candidate but not on the official ballot. A ballot listing DR SS L AVPPERSON and ORION PEED would count as Beveridge in the Indiana General Assembly joint meeting. MR PRED S will appear second on the county ballot beneath Oscar de Blane. MR M PHERSONS holds the third position on the ballot.
A notice states that from July onward P will produce and boil cider weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Pricing lists thirty gallons or less at 45 cents, over thirty gallons at 1 cent per gallon, and syrup boiling at 1 cent per gallon. Contact Odon and Inter State by phone, mill near S. 1 Depot.
Mion forms a for profit Pleasure Club with ten of Odeon's businessmen leasing a lake from D. W. Bayes. The group plans improvements to create a bathing and boating pleasure resort likened to Newport and Atlantic City and will be ready in spring. Trespass on the private land is prohibited.
The United Brethren church held Sunday school sessions in the morning and gospel preaching in the evening. Rev. J. Mo Ininsa led the Bible class and a Sunday school rally day drew large attendance with several new scholars added.
Plainville resident James Heinbaugh, 72, died after a fall Friday morning striking his head on a puny. He never regained consciousness and passed Saturday at about eleven. Heinbaugh, Civil War veteran, survived by wife and one son. He served as Steele township trustee and justice of the peace. Burial in Plainville cemetery Monday.
M S Hastings II, a well known attorney of the firm Hastings Allen Hastings, is confined to his Grand Avenue home with what doctors believe to be appendicitis. He has not been at his law office for about a week and physicians hope to avoid surgery due to his condition. Washington Herald.
In Daviess County Indiana Circuit Court James A. McCoy as Administrator of Mary Payne deceased filed a petition to sell real estate because personal property is insufficient to pay debts. Mrs. Nancy Jane Wade widow of James Wade died Saturday evening at her Beard township home at age sixty seven. Funeral services were held at St Michaels church and burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. She survived six children: James M. Wade Alfred Wade Abs Mary Dages Mire Ellen Flynn David Wade and Mrs Martha Ryan. Death due to a general physical breakdown was expected. Reason Bennett went to Terre Haute to visit his son Atty EW Somnere.
