Effective November 1907 the Southern Indiana By Co announces sale of tickets from Odon to Texas Mexico New Mexico and Arkansas. The notice lists reduced tourist fares for travel to southern states and nearby destinations.
Local church notices list morning and evening preaching with subjects The Present Truth and Can We Reply Upon the Bible along with Sunday School Junior C B and a Thursday by Elder JE Ashley preaching. W E B Snyder and GC C Lowther named pastors with service times and activities for Wednesday Friday and weekend meetings.
The ordinance fixes hog keeping rules in Odon Indiana. It prohibits keeping hogs in lots under 5000 square feet and requires weekly cleaning and liming. Violators face fines up to twenty five dollars. Ordinance dated September 6 1907.
J F Ashley, a former railroad mail clerk with strong religious conviction, has preached in Jasonville for over a year, growing the congregation and aiding a new church building. He will speak at the Christian church Thursday evening October 24, with an invitation extended to all.
Cattle men were here this week. Dr and Mrs M H Kutch came from Terre Haute on Monday. Mr and Mrs Ed Hubbard went to Loogotes on Tuesday. Bechtel Brottiera plastering in Elmore this week. Roscoe Hubbard of Franklin County was here this week.
A series of blasts at the Dupont Powder Mill near Fontanet Indiana obliterated the plant and leveled parts of the town. About 38 workers died and around 500 were injured as four explosions occurred from 9:15 to 10:45 AM causing immense destruction and a massive rescue effort in Terre Haute.
Ira L. Christenberry and Miss Ma. Dove Shaffer, noted young: couple of this township, were married Wednesday evening at the bride's parents' home north of town. Rev. C. Lowther officiated. The groom is a farmer from near Odon. They will reside in Stacisun township with many friends in Odor.
William Hastings and Miss Jon Sharpless were married at the office of Thomas P D Slimp in Washington at 1 o clock Wednesday morning. Magi Russell officiated. The groom, son of John Hastings, a farmer of Elmore township, is hardworking. The bride, daughter of the late Absalon Sharpless, is a locally known, attractive young woman. They will begin housekeeping in Elmore township.
Trustee Hiram Sims announces weekly office hours at the Eaglesville post office every Saturday for all persons having business with Van Buren township.
