Odon Glove Factory Opens With Twenty Seams

The Odon Glove Factory began operation Monday with twenty sewers in their shop. Workers showed aptitude as some sewers produced as many as a dozen mittens. A ten horsepower gasoline engine powers the factory's machinery and a two ton press handles cutting and shaping. Finished gloves are inspected by foremen and sent back for rework as needed.

William Henry Stewart born October 14 1846 in Washington County Indiana died October 8 1905 after long illness. He lived in Indiana all his life and for 25 years in Odon. Married June 34 years ago to Mary E Brainwood. Survived by wife two daughters three sisters and one brother. Funeral conducted by Rev Turney with burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Former resident Littleton Bennett dies after illness

Littleton Bennett, former proprietor of Odeu Journal in Littletoo Jasonville, dies at his brother Reason Bennett’s home after a nine week illness. He traveled to Battle Creek for treatment, returning home two months ago before his condition worsened and death on Saturday occurred. Born December 15, 1852 in Tennessee, he moved to Davies County in youth and lived there most of his life, except for the last two years.

Buggy Wreck Near Odon Injures Driver and Two Others

Roy Skomp of Newberry was driving toward Odon Wednesday evening when two intoxicated men racing a horse collided with his buggy two miles east of town. The buggy was torn, wheel lost and badly damaged. the other buggy overturned with serious damage. The men refused to reveal their names and claimed residence off Indian Springs.

Aeronaut Bryant Injured After Balloon Fire at Loogootee

Aeronaut K. Bryant owner of a carnival balloon venture, fell from a burning balloon at Loogootee Friday. He parachuted but the damaged chute failed and he was badly injured, with danger to his life. He is 22, from Louisville.

Frisco standardizes E and T H operations October first

The Evansville area railroad line formerly known as the E and T H will switch to Frisco rules starting October. Changes are expected as the old name fades. Locals feel a historic link to the line and worry Evansville will lose a named road serving the city.

Train Delayed at Odom Bridge After Fire Damages Tinkers

Train No 3 leaving Odon at o clock was delayed Monday morning by a fire that burned eight to ten feet of bridge tinker work on one side. The fire, likely from a late night freight, caused repairs by local men including Dora 40K and Jacob's brick laying troop under James Churchman. Train later moved 83 minutes behind schedule.

S. L. Jacobs and his bricklayers began work Monday on a 22 by 80 foot business house in the burnt district of Evora. A two story corner building on the same block had been completed earlier.

Ben Hur Orchestra to Perform Special Music

The Ben Hur group lists a program of numbers for their meeting including March by the Ben Hur Orchestra and Waltz by the same orchestra. Violin solos by Dean M. Inman and J. E. Reunion thinning for 801 Indiana Volunteers group

James Watson and Mrs Watson attended Edwardsport events for the 801 regiment reunion. Mr Watson served in Company G. Only three from Company G and forty nine from the regiment joined the camp fires, reflecting thinning Grand Army of the Republic ranks.

First Quarterly Meeting at Mr. E church

The first Quarterly Meeting of Odon charge will be held in the Mr. E church on Saturday and Sunday October 14 and 15. Rev Aybury the new Presiding Elder will preach Saturday at 10 30 a m and 7 00 p m. Sunday morning at 10 30 followed by sacramental service. Rev Sims will preach Sunday evening.
