Lively scrap at Dicks restaurant between Harve Lane and Richard Baird

A lively fight broke out at Dicks restaurant last Saturday night when Harve Lane and Richard Baird, both of this town, argued over a matter. The altercation ended after several bruises and banged eyes, with both men separated and bearing marks from the encounter.

Mrs Livona Lyon Dies in East Odon Home

Mrs Livona D Lyon aged eighty two years one month died at her home in East Odon after a long illness. She was widow of Samuel Lyon and lived with her children John and Mary Lyon. Survived by Grant Lyon and siblings Richard and Levi Dunlap Lucinda Evans and Jane Henderson. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev F A Lester then at Mt Olive near Washington for burial.

Large Farm Barn Fire Destroys 8 Horses Near Washington

A. B. Perkins suffered a heavy loss when a barn about six and a half miles northeast of Washington burned between 12 and 1 am. Eight stallions and two jacks died, plus hay and implements. Loss estimated at 15000 dollars with 8000 dollars insured. Mrs. Perkins and two children home alone. owner away at Evansville. No clues on cause. Passersby alerted Mrs. Perkins.

Prohibitionists Hold Series of Campaign Meetings

The prohibitionists conducted a sequence of speeches starting in Elnora at 8 AM with A W Jackman and M S Larmiere among the speakers. They traveled by eight automobiles to Plainville for a 10 AM talk, spoke in Washington at 1 PM, Montgomery at 4 30, and Cornettsville at 7 before returning to Elnora for departure to Bedford.

Reception for Pastor Garriott at U B Church

A formal reception honored Rev. G A Garriott pastor of the U B church and his family at the church on Wednesday evening. The program featured orchestra song devotion by Mrs Callie War readings by William Barr a welcome by W J Danner duet by Zella Ackerman and William Barr a male quartet and talks by Rev D P McCoy and Rev Garriott followed by closing prayer by Mrs Sue Alford. A social half hour followed the program.

Vaults Found Under Kil dared Abbey After Floods

During heavy rains in County Kildare Ireland a portion of the abbey wall at Castledermot fell revealing vaults below containing skulls and human remains. Authorities believe the remains date back centuries to the abbey’s monastic era.

Baptists Meet in Linton for State Convention Event

Linton Indiana hosts about 200 visitors for a Baptist state convention opening session with committees formed to aid arrivals. Rev T J Owens of Bedford led a devotional, and Rev H H Harley of Ohio preached the convention sermon as reports on missions and university work were heard.

Many Fail To Vote In County Registration Figures

Auditor reports show 748 registered voters in the county with several hundred missing the last chance to register on Monday. Historical counts reveal 1908 total of 7 077 votes and 1910 off year total of 6 605. A Washington Herald table lists precinct by precinct registration and past election votes.
