The sixteen year old Peter Schultz has been sentenced to death for the murder of Mary Wertheimer’s three month old child. Judge Moore orders execution in the week beginning December 19 at Sing Sing, unless Governor Flower grants clemency. Schultz shows no remorse, but pleads to counsel to seek mercy as pressure mounts for a life sentence due to his youth.
In New Haven on November 9 a fire engulfed John Leete’s house, destroying his fortune of 2100 dollars. Leete, at a political meeting, was away when the blaze broke out. his family barely escaped.
