Memorial Services Honor Civil War Veterans
Memorial services followed the schedule with Rev C Lowther delivering a memorial sermon at the M Ed church. A large mixed-church choir performed for Memorial Sunday and Decoration Day as Grand Army of the Republic veterans from 1861–65, including G D Abraham, James Watson, Levi Dunlap, J D Laughlin, and many more, marched with familiar precision. Hon M S Hastings spoke to old soldiers and attendees as verses honor veterans and peace for comrades elsewhere.

Messiah Oratorio to Be Heard by Choral Symphony Club
The Messiah will be performed in Washington on Thursday night June 6 by the Choral Symphony Club with Odon orchestra. Several locals will attend and Prof. J. K. McCarter sang a fine solo. The piece is hailed as a great work and readers weigh religious debates and local updates including a birthday gathering for Mrs. H A Turney with a community social and gifts.
