Aged Minister Dies in Fountain City Obituary
The death of Rev. L. B. Johnson, aged about eighty one, at Fountain City is noted. A longtime Methodist minister and abolition ally, he aided Tliza Thurris’s escape on the Underground Railroad and provided Mrs. Stowe with details for her story. He was known in the South as a staunch abolitionist. His nephew Rev. L. B. Johnson of Washington is linked to the Odont M. E. church legacy.
