Mr and Mrs B D Smiley hosted a six oclock dinner on May 11 in six courses. Favors were jonquils and ferns. Attendees included Mr and Mrs H H Crooke Mr and Mrs J M Winklepleck Mr and Mrs W T Dearmin Mr and Mrs W W H Hueston and Mr and Mrs W J Danner. The evening was enjoyed by all.
Charey Blough and family from Greeve County moved here. Mrs. Sarah Haverstock of Odon is visiting relatives and friends. Mr and Mrs Mat Poorman of near Eaglesville visited W P Howard. Wu Carpenter and daughters Garce and Ruth of Odon were here. Henry Connell and family visited Win Bechtel’s of Farlen. Mr and Mrs L D Arford spent Sunday here. Win Jackson and family visited OL Taylor’s. Mrs Marquaret Cunningham spent Saturday with Mrs Thos Wirts. Several from here attended church and the baptism at Mt Olive. James Baile of Indian Springs attended RE Baile’s Sunday.

UW B Church announces Sunday services in Odon Mud Pike and Pleasant Hill with Sunday school times and sermons. A third quarterly conference will be held Monday May 21 at 9:00 a.m with reports expected and lay delegate election within the Odon church.
The Grand Army of the Republic unit outlines Memorial Sunday May 28 events, including a 10 am assembly at the G A R hall, a sermon at the Christian church, and grave decoration at Walnut Fill cemetery led by the S I Band. May 30 includes a 9 am parade, cemetery visits, and memorial services at the church with Rev A J Newgent. Businesses to close 9 am to 3 pm.
L W Howard an Odton man figured in a shooting scrape at Washington Tuesday afternoon at his hotel. Whit Johnson of Washington is under arrest awaiting indictment by the wand jury after Johnson returned with a revolver and fired twice at Howard who retreated unharmed. Howard has been overseeing hotel repairs and lives in east Odton.
Murphy of Marengo Indiana traveling with trunks was injured when a hack broke, the front wheels pulled free. He fell striking his head on the fifth wheel, cutting a gash over his left eye, and received dressing in Odon.
A local business group asks for patronage and fair service as they expand telephone service in the area. They announce new installations this week for Elmer Meads Vern Reed Sidney Taley and Indian Refining, signaling plans to invest further and operate independently in the future.

Citizens of Brazil plan an automobile trip to inspect a proposed interurban line to Linton. A civil engineer will accompany the group to provide a rough cost estimate for the survey. Supporters seek a 29 percent subsidy to attract a financing corporation.
