Deputy Wardens Playford and Stackhouse clashed with bare fists before about 2,000 convicts and visitors at the Ohio penitentiary chapel. Evanxsvile Indiana April 3 Robert H Smith a young lawyer shot himself through the heart and died. He was in good spirits during the day settled accounts attended the state republican convention as a delegate. He was nephew of ex State Senator Lemeke and unmarried and well to do. No cause given for the deed.
In Hasiayx Nova Scotia 1500 miners at Spring Hill collieries walked out on Saturday protesting insufficient pay. In Washington Judge Bradley overruled the motion for a new trial in the Breckinridge breach of promise case and set an appeal bond of 100 dollars to be taken to the Court of Appeals in Columbus.
