Well Known Woman Susan Wade Dies in City

Susan Wade, aged sixty six, a respected resident, died Saturday at her daughter's home on Spring Street after weeks of illness including heart leakage. She survived by daughters Etta Courtney, Daisy Henderson, and Mamie Williams. funeral at the U B church with Rev Ernest Roberts, burial beside her husband in Eaglesville Cemetery.

Roscoe Wade of Terre Haute and formerly of this city had his index finger torn off last Friday while working at the Columbian Stamping Works. A baler malfunctioned when a chain slipped from the cog wheel, catching his finger and severing it.

Elnora Big Day Planned With River Bridge Tour

Elnora and northern Daviess county residents will gather for an all day meeting next Tuesday. Knox and Daviess county commissioners will tour the proposed river bridge site, depart at 9 30, return at noon for a free basket dinner at the Methodist church basement, with a short program and social activities. Trapping Regulation Bill Passed To Protect Fur Bearing Animals

A bill to regulate trapping requires written consent to trap on land and 36 hour trap inspections. Traps must be set indoors from ground level to stay away from animals, with penalties up to 50 dollars and 30 days in jail. Beavers raccoons foxes opossums and skunks may not be trapped February to November except on one's property if damage occurs. Possession of specified animals or skins in that period is prima facie evidence of guilt unless for breeding. Multiple offenses may be joined and fined separately.

Lela Crooke Escapes Tornado Near Newcastle

Miss Lela Crooke a public school teacher in Newcastle escaped the Sunday tornado that devastated the city. She was boarding within a block and a half of the direct path and returned home as schools closed for the week amid the disaster.

Wonderful Growth in United Drug Co. Eleven Months Ended Dec 31

The United Drug Co reports eleven months ending December 31 with sales of 33,404,866.05 and nine percent operating profit. Net profit after taxes depreciation and doubtful accounts stands at 2,631,236.55. After preferred dividends and subsidiary stock dividends a surplus of 1,410,456.18 remains. Thirteen new stores opened and rapid consolidation completed ahead of schedule. The outlook for 1917 is very bright with expected large growth. The Odon Drug Co. in this city is among the 7000 stores in the chain.

Funeral services for Ned L. Plummer held at U B church

Ned L. Plummer's funeral was held at the U B church with Rev P F Fouts in charge. Burial followed in the local cemetery. Other items note Cassel Myers visiting, residents traveling, and community updates including church ladies, births, and weather impacts from heavy rain on Prairie Creek.

Elias Malone Dead In Elmore Township

Eliss Malone of Elmore township died at home one mile east of Elnore yesterday morning between nine and ten o clock from rheumatism in the heart after a two week illness. He was forty six, a farmer and seller of medicines and stock food. He leaves four children, three brothers Albert, Leonard of Elmore and Grover of Blue Island, and a sister Mrs. Mary Todd. Funeral arrangements not yet made.
