John R. Walsh, head of Southern Indiana road, defends himself in a dispute spurred by Chicago and Indianapolis papers. The Chicago Chronicle blasts press coverage while F. M. Blount denies bank securities were shuffled. Officials say ownership of the road may pass to a syndicate, with change possible after months of arrangement.
Delegates will gather in Indianapolis on April 11 and 12 to nominate state officers including Secretary of State Auditor of State Treasurer of State Attorney General Clerk of the Supreme Court Superintendent of Public Instruction State Geologist State Statistician one Supreme Court judge for the First District four for the Fourth District two Appellate Court judges for the First District and three for the Second District. There are 1840 delegates with Daviess County contributing 18.
The Bloomfield Democrat reports the death of Richard M. McNeill, its editor, will not alter the paper’s business policy. Mrs. Lizzie G. McNeill, his widow, announces she has owned the paper since his association began and that operations will continue as before.
Katharine Williams of Lagrange Indiana became president of the local national bank. She rose from a typewriter to head of the loan and collection department and never made a bad loan, with her youth and steady work cited as reasons for the historic appointment.

Saturday evening about six o'clock Mrs. Cora Monts residence four miles south burned. She was at the barn when the fire started. roof aflame with little saved beyond smoke-house contents. A three year old girl inside was badly burned but expected to recover. Cause thought to be a defective flue. Insurance partly covers loss.
Secretary W. H. Leedy reports from the grand lodge of the I O O F that 723 subordinate lodges hold a total membership of 68 941, with a net gain of 2 621 members.
