A farmer Henry J. Aufgang resists mail order houses after catalogs lure neighbors away, threatening town life. He convenes a meeting, vows to preserve local commerce, and the town burns catalogs in a bonfire as a moral.
Venus Lodge No 987 mourns the death of Brother T M Brown who passed February 27 1911 at nearly seventy. The lodge notes his genial benevolence and gentle ways and extends sympathy to the family. He was a valued member and friend to all who knew him.
The financial statement shows loans and discounts 13442785 plus overdrafts 8674 unsecured. U S bonds 4006000 and other bonds. Deposits totals show cash and reserves with notes and redemption funds. The report is sworn by Cashier B D Smiley before Notary Daniel W Hayes and attested by directors Winkelpleck Crooke and Lane.
