John Hicks Dawson a young English sexton at the Wicksville church died after a fall from the steeple during a service. He had recently recovered from grippe and showed despondent behavior. The incident occurred after he played the chimes and collapsed, leaving the congregation startled by the bells.
Saturday morning an explosion at the Armour-Cudahy packing-house in South Omaha caused instant death to one worker and led to additional fatalities. The blast occurred in the boiler room of the old parking-house where nine boilers are housed, with two in serious condition. The outside boiler burst, ripping a large hole in the adjacent machinery department walls.
Nine year old Cerrie Revshy was accidentally killed by eight year old Claude Harrison. The children had gathered at Mrs. Mary Eveland's residence when Harrison fired a shot through the doorway saying words not understood. The bullet struck Revshy in the head. investigators report the act was done "for fun" according to the boy.
A young man named James Bradley killed a mulatto girl named Annie Brooks in Ricumonn Virginia. Bradley invited her into his house on Union Street and after hesitating drew a dirk and stabbed her in the left breast twice, causing death within fifteen minutes.
