A notice announces a farewell dinner at the Grand Hotel hosted by Mrs Cummings, manager, with advance payment options and partial details about timing and pricing.
Notice calls all committee members to meet at Danner's Opera House on Tuesday night July 2 to make final arrangements. It also announces a price rise for stamped envelopes from fifty-three to fifty four cents per unit and notes a fire-related increase in some costs.
The 6th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs John Woodruff was observed last Sunday in the grove with about 125 attendees. Mr Woodruff, born August 14 1825 in Lawrence county, moved to Daviess county at age four. Mrs Woodruff born December 1 1828 in Tennessee, moved to Martin county young. The family totals 144 members with 9 children 44 children and 55 great grandchildren. A big dinner in the grove marked the event. Henry Mathews death delayed the gathering and Mrs George Beasley’s death also kept many away. A.M. Keck photographed the couple and group.
Local notes list residents and visitors in recent days. Heartha Sipes and Ada Fredin visited Odon and Wheatland. Cal Garrett, Mrs. Ode Padgett, Mrs. C Q Williams, Jack Moore, Frank Moore, Dan Storm, Wallace Summerville, Eph Inman, Jesse Banks, Shélyn Holtwid, Way Gore, and others traveled to nearby towns including Odon, Bedford, Linton, Wheatland, and Washington.
A sea of short visits and travels fills the page with names and places. Many residents such as Ian Albert Burrell J E Garten Herschel Smiley Edith Pershing and Ed Gove appear in weekend or weekday visits to Bedford Washington Burlington Orleans and Scotland. Messages mention a funeral, purchases, a nail accident, and local business offers from Diefendorf's.
All correspondents and others having material for publication are requested to send same to Tas Journal office one day earlier next week than usual on account of the Fourth.
Elnora's Miss Davis, longtime local music teacher and former associate editor of the Elnora News, married Walter M. Byers on Wednesday at 5 PM in the home of her father Rev. Sidney Davis. Byers, a medical student, resides at 1299 College Avenue in Indianapolis.

Mr and Mrs John Cummings announce the discontinuation of their Grand Hotel business after July 5. They have operated the hotel here for four years and describe the house as a good one. They may reopen in another season elsewhere.
CORNETTSVILLE farmers have started eating wheat. Mr and Mrs Curtis Myers visited Washington Saturday. Miss Lena Cosnest of Bicknell is visiting relatives here. George Supmit was at Washington Saturday. Mrs Rena Wanmeter of Bedford is here visiting shar Arakbar and Charles Bolton. Mr and Mrs Isaac Cornett of Bicknell were here Sunday.
