A westbound B and Q passenger train collided with a freight near Vincennes, Indiana, after hitting an open switch on a steep grade. Three dead and sixteen injured, including John Eisenhart, J L Witner, and Ed Mason, with numerous others hurt. The interior of the dining car was wrecked and several engineers and porters were among the injured. The line was cleared for urgent transport to St. Louis and hospital care.

In Muncie Indiana a woman once married to William Studebaker is found to have two living husbands after remarrying Joseph Miller. Studebaker returns with a Missouri wife believing divorce granted. Minnich holds a Delaware county farm deed now questioned as Mrs Frazee Miller’s signature was invalid without Studebaker’s. The tangled marriages leave Minnich in possession of land valued at 50.08 dollars pending correction.
A Kentucky man named Taylor must pay fifty cents to obtain his flat carriage horse held at a Indianapolis livery stable after the horse wandered into a yard and the police seized it. A boy from the Taylor home was sent for the animal but did not return with the payment, keeping the horse in custody for the fee.
A Che Foo cablegram reports Hector Fuller staff correspondent of the Indianapolis News has been captured by four Russian soldiers and taken to Port Arthur. He was blindfolded and imprisoned after landing near Port Arthur around June 12 while sailing from Che Foo in an open boat with two Chinese oarsmen. The U S State Department in Washington was notified on the prior Wednesday.
Bloomington Indiana June 18 report says during a riot Friday at the McCann railroad camp a colored teamster named Stephens was mortally wounded and another Negro shot. The sheriff arrived with a posse and dispersed the rioters. Rioting grew from a fight between Stephens and a colored stable bass.
In Evansville on June 18 White Tohe Ostean and Edward Wood slept on Coal Mine hill when three youths built a nearby fire. Wood woke to find his clothing burning and the boys had vanished. One of Wood's limbs was severely burned and doctors fear toe amputation.
Mrs. Anna Albertson is in critical condition at her Newcastle residence after leaping from a second-story window in a suicide attempt. She struck her head on landing and is believed fatally injured.
Goodlands Indiana bankers close Home Bank doors on Thursday as president F D Gilman is missing after leaving Monday to seek funds. A threatened run on Milroy’s private bank in Rushville June 18 was averted when local citizens borrowed 30 000 from Fletcher's Bank in Indianapolis with Rushville bank endorsement.

Senator A. J. Beveridge and a companion rode an electric car from Fairmount to Anderson. A man and a woman argued loudly inside the crowded vestibule, and the motorman and a bystander mistook Beveridge for the profane man. Beveridge was jammed through a car door and fell among trunks and seats, bruised and disheveled before continuing to Indianapolis in a foul mood.
In Lawrenceburg Indiana on a Wednesday a six year old boy James Liddle fell from a stepladder at his parents home. His chin struck the ladder and his tongue was bitten severely losing an inch from its tip and hanging by a shred. Doctors could not repair the damage.
Blaffton Indiana June 16 The residence of Mrs Mattie Conner was partly wrecked by dynamite and the family escaped serious injury by chance The perpetrators believed the family slept in the rear where the charge was placed but they had moved because of the warm weather No arrests have been made.
Addison Parsiser, president of the First National Bank, received an anonymous letter demanding he play at a certain spot on his farm or face death by ambush. Detectives guard him while he is closely watched. Parsiser is brother-in-law of A McCoy of the McCoy bank that recently failed.
Information from South Bend indicates Lieut. Col. Bowman of Waterloo will resign from the Indiana National Guard following the removal of Col. G. M. Studebaker by Governor Durbin.

Terre Haute Indiana June 18 A thief stole a ham from butcher Shields of Linton but dropped a $20 gold piece in the soap suggesting the thief’s blunder and a strange clue to the crime.
The Schneider Carriage Co. of Richmond Indiana made an assignment on Thursday for creditors. Estimated liabilities run about 21,000 dollars. Assets will not cover more than a few cents on the dollar.
In Lawrenceburg Indiana on June 17 Miss Henrietta Seekatz aged 19 died at her father’s home after years of bed confinement due to spinal inflammation traced to a fall in infancy. The event ends a long period of illness for the young woman.
