Drowning Tragedy Among Mason Family at Furst Creek

Willie Mason, twelve, son of Robert Mason, drowned while wading in Furst Creek near Newberry. The elder Mason, Robert, and Russell Deagmin were in the party. Robert fell into a deep hole and was rescued, but Willie slipped and died before help arrived. The body was recovered after an hour near a log. Funeral held Monday at the family home, burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery with Rev. C C Lowsher officiating. Willie was a fifth-grade student and member of the M E Sunday School. he leaves his parents and four sisters.

Walter Wilkins son of Thomas Wilkins, living two and a half miles from Elnora, was killed by a lightning bolt Monday morning. He was in a barn owned by S A Whitman, hanging harness when struck. Several men sheltered nearby survived with minor injuries. Funeral services were held at Advent church Tuesday, burial at the new cemetery in Elnora.

Robbery Foils Guthries. Wife Shot in Oregon Access

Mack Guthrie received a telegram from his son Homer reporting a robbery and that Mrs. Guthrie had been shot. She is in critical condition. Details are unavailable. Telegram came from Medford Oregon. The Guthries have been in Oregon about two months. robbers likely obtained about eight hundred dollars.
