Drowning Tragedy Among Mason Family at Furst Creek
Willie Mason, twelve, son of Robert Mason, drowned while wading in Furst Creek near Newberry. The elder Mason, Robert, and Russell Deagmin were in the party. Robert fell into a deep hole and was rescued, but Willie slipped and died before help arrived. The body was recovered after an hour near a log. Funeral held Monday at the family home, burial in Walnut Hill Cemetery with Rev. C C Lowsher officiating. Willie was a fifth-grade student and member of the M E Sunday School. he leaves his parents and four sisters.
