The will of John L. Dayton, a Plainville liveryman drowned at Edwardsport ferry, was filed with the county clerk for probate. Deborah Dayton, his sister, is named sole beneficiary and executrix of the estate, with the writ dated March 24, witnessed by W. Gardiner and Ezra Mattingly.

The body was brought here for burial with funeral at the James Callahan house Sunday at 10:30 conducted by Rev W H Todd. Burial followed at Walnut Hill. Mr and Mrs Jas Callahan thank friends and the Christian church and Rev Todd for their kindness in the bereavement.

June births decline in Indiana figures show
The Indiana State Board of Health reports 4114 births in June with 2118 boys and 1966 girls, a rate of 18.3 per 1000. Dubois County leads at 30.1 per 1000. Deaths reach 10.5 per 1000. pulmonary tuberculosis is the leading cause, with typhoid fever also high.
