Our town laments an incident of arson on the Fourth when chemical engines failed to function. Citizens condemn the act, demand severe censure, and call for a reward for apprehending the culprits to ensure punishment.
Our home merchants buy farmers produce including butter eggs potatoes and apples and provide a ready market. They sell at a loss in many cases to help farmers while department stores take only money. Some farmers still send profits to depa rtment stores instead of buying locally.
An editorial urges residents to treat the town as one large harmonious family. It warns that discord and envy hinder growth and praises unity as the path to higher property values and communal achievement.
The town board considers a full recodification of Odon ordinances. The existing book is aged and some rules are obsolete repealed or lost. A competent writer will draft and record new ordinances to ensure enforceable local law.

Barton Sears formerly of this place died after paralysis July 4 in Bedford. Born February 23 1846 he served four and a half years in the army and had two marriages producing several children. Funeral held in Bedford Monday. Other items note visits, social events, church plans, and a hardware firm sale.

In Van Buren township on Sunday at 3 pm Alda May Robinson married Charles Otis Parsons. Eld C H Buchanan of Odon officiated. Over seventy five guests joined a lawn luncheon after the ceremony before the couple departed to their future home.

Prof A F Inman and Prof W W Toman, editor of the Odonto Journal and brother of Dear Amman, have been elected to professorships at Indiana Central University. Toman, a state normal and state university graduate, will start in the fall term. The Indiana Central normal department gains a new professor as Toman returns from Chicago University.
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Robert Fellers is very low with the whooping cough. Mrs Mamie Fellers visited from Elliston to spend Sunday with her parents Mr and Mrs Matt Poorman. Mr J S Sears and family were called to Bedford for the funeral of B R Sears. Homer Pershing and family spent Sunday with Dan Myers family in Farlen. Ol Herndon and family visited Eaglesville over the weekend. Lala Miller Mamie and Vince Herndon visited Edna and Lola Ramsey. Rezi Overton and daughter Bertha were guests of Mrs Ken Mye of Eaglesville. Roscoe and Shelden Hirdman returned to India Sunday after visiting parents Ellisha Bindian.
Wednesday at 4 30 the home of the officiating clergyman Eld GC H Buchanan Benjamin Everett Sears and Miss Lora Myers were united in marriage. The groom is the youngest son of John R Sears of Elmore township and well regarded. The bride’s parents are Mr and Mrs John Porter Myers of Elnora. Attendants were John son of Elnora and Miss Killion of the town.
In a Wednesday case at Linton Cyrun B Davis, representing defendants, criticized plaintiffs attorneys led by Henry W Moore of Bloomfield for motives in bringing the suit. Moore retorted and struck Davis, who retaliated with a blow that drew a head wound.
