Negro killer lynched by mob in South Carolina

Cairo Williams the Negro who killed Taurston O McGee, a white man, at Scranton in Williamsburg county last February, was taken from an Atlantic Coast Line train at Scranton Thursday evening and lynched by a mob. He had narrowly escaped lynching after the killing and was moved from the Columbia penitentiary for safety. Williams had been brought from Columbia to Kingstree for trial last Monday, but the trial ended in a mistrial and he was sent back to Columbia for safety.
