Abraham Hasser, a prominent farmer near five miles from the city, died Monday afternoon from complications of paralysis and general debility after several weeks illness. He was born June 19 162 and married Rebecca Sidhnis September 24 1855. Survived by two sons, two daughters, two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral at 11 oclock today at the M E church in Ycotland with Rev S G Shake in charge. Burial at Mes rie Se GSee Slate remains to be interred at local cemetery.
The annual Sunday School class No. YU of the Lit. church held a banquet at the Star theater with a decorated hall, musical program, and a feast featuring roast pork and cranberries. Following speeches and music, attendees were invited to tables while healthful motives and bowling as exercise were extolled, and Fred Falkenberg backed bowling's benefits. The notice promotes the New Gem Bowling Alley on East Main Street in Odon, Indiana.
Mary Isghole sues Frank Jow a Van Tuerca farmer claiming he promised to marry her in June 1916 after soliciting her trousseau and affection. She alleges coercive threats and repeated wooing led to a marriage contract that he later refused to honor after divorcing in 1914. Plaintiff seeks damages of 15000 and court action to enforce marriage or breach remedy. Alvin Padgett is attorney for the plaintiff.
Wm Cox is on the sick list. Miss Irma Overton of Indianapolis visits relatives this week. Mr and Mrs Homer Pershing and daughter Mertha visited Mr and Mrs Stever Callahan Sr. Stewart of near Marsh store visited his daughter Mrs Wm Cox from Saturday to Tuesday. Elmer Ramsey visited relatives near Marco Sunday. Raymond and Calvin Pershing visited Robert Ramsey Sunday. Mr and Mrs E L Hindman visited Mr and Mrs Wa Zigler Sunday. Gladys Zigler and Irma Overton visited Jas Overton and family Wednesday. Jacob Myers and wife visited their daughter Mrs Chas Sims Sunday. Mr and Mrs Benj Shull passed through Tuesday en route to Odon. The box usage for kindling noted. reimbursement for past damage appreciated if settled at once.
The county auditor lists the total net value of taxable property at 9,766,7 with real estate and railroad properties highlighted. Delinquencies show 1241 polls carried over and taxes paid totaling 452,343.28 for the year, with expected county receipts around 439,350.12 once delinquencies are settled.
At the annual reorganization of stockholders of the First National Bank slight officer changes were made for the year. A. A. Lane is president, J. Mi. Winklepleck vice president, B. D. Smiley cashier, Flossie Winklepleck assistant cashier, Bradie York book-keeper, Ruth Breden assistant bookkeeper. B. D. Smiley, cashier, was granted a two month vacation for health reasons and will shortly leave for Arizona and California.
Miss Vivian Rusher entertained friends at her home four miles southwest of Odon last Friday night with games music and contests. Refreshments were served. Guests included Nelle Fielder Inez Kinneman Nellie Pruett Cleo Meurer Goldie Burkhart Jeanette Andis Vern Beasley Walter Bechtel Cecil Burkhart Harley Andis Robert Resler Noah Resler and Harley Fielder.
