A men's meeting is announced at the U B Church Sunday at 3 o'clock with orchestra music, a quartette song, and reading by Wim Bair. Aieke Weche is pastor. subject is The Fire of Daniel. All ages are urged to come, including the oldest man and the youngest boy.
H J Ward former manager at W T Dearmins poultry house has purchased the Spring Street grocery store from W R Pershing. Ward has taken personal charge and is known locally as a hustling business man. Pershing has not decided his next venture.
A marriage license was issued last week to Kenneth O. Campbell and Hattie F. Pirtle. Miss Pirtle is one of Linton's popular young ladies and has visited Mrs. Dean Richardson here several times, known to several of Odon's young people.
Elmer G Laughlin is brought into the Daviess circuit court by Claud Beem. W V Moffet and Ogden & Inman are the plaintiff's attorneys and a judgment is demanded for 260 dollars.
Word reached here of the death of Dr W H Burke on December 22 at his home in Wealska Oklahoma He practiced medicine for twenty five years in Scotland Greene County He previously was Democratic nominee for recorder in Greene County He later moved to Oklahoma He was brother to Frank Burke of Bloomfield and was well known in the community
Stacy O Dell and Miss Chise Williams were married at the bride’s aunt’s home. The couple will live in Indianapolis where O Dell works as a ticket agent at Union Station. Both families praise the newlyweds and expect them to settle in Indianapolis after a week’s visit in Odon.
Four county officers began new terms with three serving two years and one for three years. George Godwin, county treasurer, and Clifford Bonhim entered on two year terms, Richard McDonald became county commissioner for three years, and the sheriff must post a 250 000 bond before duties. If the sheriff dies the coroner acts as sheriff for the remainder of the term. The new commissioner McDonald succeeds Henry Sefrit and started Monday.
Claude Anderson, a DePauw University ministry student, gave a notable address at the M E Church during Sunday night services. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson and is a graduate of Odon High School with many local friends in attendance.

James B. Vorrow claims 44 legislators pledged support but a secret ballot produced 36 votes for Benjamin F. Shively, while accusing eight lawmakers of bribery in a contested Indiana candidacy. He asserts access to open newspapers and voter scrutiny as proof.
